Six-Word-Saturday: “Better to be Thought a Fool”

Good morning all. I’m Barabbas and this is Six-Word-Saturday, a Weekly Offering here in response to Debbie’s. It’s a writing prompt started and currently being run by Debbie over on Travel with Intent. Why not check her blog out and participate yourself?

Only a Fool Proclaims Himself “Wise”

Here is her Current I’m still not sure, seeing some of the other entries, whether we need to stay on the photo given. But here is my humble attempt for this week. As you can see, I’ve “sprinkled in” more than one set of Six-Words. Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

The proverbs for today the 17th.

V26 speaks to what some people today want to do. Drive down the successful, “eat the rich” to make themselves feel “equal” without having to put in the time, effort and Risk to work for their own success. This is based in jealousy and greed not “equity” as they sayโ€ฆthough they may not know or admit it. Stop trying to Steal or use the power of the Government to Steal what others have that you want. It’s still Theft.

“Equity” based Taxation is Legalized Theft

V27 speaks to those with a calm, secure and confident knowledge and competence. Those who are always talking, never able to shut up, always wrangling on and on about themselves or their “expertise” rarely have any. These are what the bible calls “Fools”. A little self awareness would go a long way.

Calm Assurance needs no “Flowery” Words

V28 happens to remind me of my mom. Every 17th of the month when I come to this one, I hear my mom sayingโ€ฆ “better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt” ๐Ÿ™‚

Don’t be a Fool. Shut-up Sometimes.

Enjoy the Day – Barabbas

Wednesday Word: “Heaven”

Heaven is where God Is

Good morning all and Welcome back to the Wednesday Word. Today’s word is … Heaven. This one word evokes such desire, such anticipation, such Hope. But what is it? Heaven… Heaven has so many connotations and images for so many and different people.

Most of what we Think about Heaven and what awaits beyond this life is really nothing more than speculation and even a bit of Wishful Thinking… as we “pretend” to actually Know what we can only Believe and have Faith for. The machinations and scripture twisting of “amateur bible scholars” world wide (Did I hear an “Ouch!” Out there?) most likely pale and fail in the Reality that “no eye hath seen, mind has conceived” that waits for us individually… and One Day Corporately… when we “all get to…” Heaven.

For me… I seem to “Know” less and less every day, every year. And I seek to Believe and have Faith for More and More as my Saviour not only prepares His Bride, but also the Banquet Hall for the real “Wedding for the Ages”. I content myself in ever increasing degrees as that Day draws near… to simply know that whatever, wherever… Whenever… Heaven is…

Heaven is where God is. What a Glorious thought and expectation that is. It sustains. It nourishes. It satisfies. Heaven is where God is and I never want to BE anywhere else.

Wednesday Word: “Write in Your Bibles!”

Good morning all and Welcome back to the Wednesday Word. Today is my wife’s birthday and we’ve both taken the next three days off PTO. So along with Saturday, Sunday and then Monday’s Labor Day Holiday, we have six days in a row to enjoy and celebrate my wife. Yay!!

I also happen to be waiting for a special delivery package on UPS. I’ve ordered a new Bible. Wide Margin, KJV, and I decided to go back to a Scofield Reference. I had a scofield as my first “real” bible after coming to Faith at 15, but gave it away to a new believer in the 90s and have been kicking myself ever since.

You see, there was something special about that bible that saw my introduction to Christianity and the biblical text, that chronicled my growth in both Faith and Knowledge of God and His Word… and it wasn’t primarily Scofield’s Notes or system of references. It was MY notes and references that I’d made thru the years of reading and studying the Word to “see Jesus on every page”.

In every bible I’ve owned over the years I’ve made my marks, notes, jottings, underlines and highlights… showing me where I’d been and where I was going. What I was learning and how I was “getting on” in the christian life and discipleship with Jesus.

You may have seen with the pictures I’ve posted how my current bible is “holding up” to the “abuse”. Lol. I’ve had this bible, Cambridge Wide Margin, KJV (no references and no “study bible” notes at all), since Jan 1998. It’s been my guide, my companion and my comfort thru many years and changes. If I may paraphrase a scripture for another use and “reverse” it a bit… “the outer man” is still holding up very well indeed, being genuine leather and still in great shape. However the “inner man” of my Cambridge is “perishing day by day”.

Pages are worn and some are even on the verge of coming out. There are notes and markings on nearly every page. Even the OT, where many Christians fear to tread, hasn’t escaped my pen and highlighter. Some might describe my bible as “very well trodden” indeed. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thus… a new Bible is on its way for the next 25yrs and beyond. I will always have the Cambridge and will still reference it and even possibly make MORE notes and markings in it as well. You don’t just “ditch” an old friend and partner who’s walked thru both Heaven and “hell”, figuratively speaking. You cherish and continue to value their friendship, advice and companionship for many more years and changes to come.

But my new Bible will be fresh, clean and ready for the next decades of notes and markings. Pushing me forward as I read the Word of God, God’s Speaking to me, for years to come. Here’s to friends both Old and New. Watch the video and “write in your bibles” today.

“A Dream of Music and Glory”

I woke up this morning at 441a to the sounds, in my last dream before waking, of myself playing guitar with a little girl who I understood was either my niece or the grandchild of a friend in whose house we were staying the night.

She was very proud of being in the process of learning to play and she wanted to show me what she’d learned. She left the front room, it was darkened morning yet and as I waited I thought to grab my Martin so I could play along.

My Prayer Partner and Worship Leader

For some reason, my fretting fingers didnt want to obey me very well and i struggled to find the patterns but I eventually did. And my “plectrum” or pick was stuck on a large key ring full of keys, and so wasn’t very easy to use as I found myself strumming out a rhythm for… All Heaven Declares…

All Heaven Declares… I Will Proclaim

From the dream, I remember the girl returned with all the others in the home and everyone sat on the floor with me as we sang “All Heaven declares… I will Proclaim…” in the early morning light of the sun just topping the horizon. Oh, the joy of simple worship, in simple communion with the Saints of God as the “Son” of Righteousness Rises in their hearts and mouths as we “Call upon the Name of the Lord”.

What a Glorious Way to Wake-up!!

Monday Grind: Blogging thru “Friendly Fire”

Still at it.

Good morning all and welcome back to the Monday Grind. I’m on PTO today and tomorrow from Work, but I thought I’d use this weekly offering to explain something that happened recently because of this Blog and perhaps tie it back to Last week’s Monday Grind about Job and his “Friends”. Last week i posted from my daily reading in the Book of Job on Faith Regardless. I posted how Job by chapter 23 was getting tired of “defending himself”. I guess it’s only right that I’d get an “opportunity” to Walk this out in My daily life. ๐Ÿ™‚

The rest of the week, and even this weekend, I experienced the “Blessing” of another Brother in Christ tossing “grenades” and targeting me for “friendly” fire for defending atheists from a false and dishonest definition of what their “position” and “worldview” or “belief system” is.

I won’t get into that here, but suffice to say this brother in Christ thought that since i was “defending” atheists… I must BE and atheist. Which for anyone reading this blog even the short time it’s been active would immediately lead to some serious head scratching. No… I’m not an atheist. I believe in God, specifically I’m a lover, follower, learner, disciple of Jesus my Saviour and Lord.

We share the Jesus that is Active and Alive In Us

But the “mini-battle” with one who says he is a Disciple of Christ and an avid and proliferate defender of Christianity here on WP caught me blindsided and sidetracked. It made me wonder why this blogger has a blog… which “jesus”, what “gospel”, what kind of “Love of God” and Love for others was “living and active” in his life.

But as most things and most ideas that run thru my head do… the Lord pointed those “other four fingers” back at me. Why am I defending myself? Why am I worried or concerned with “proving myself” to this blogger? Am I representing myself or “Christ In Me”?

Honestly, I didn’t like the feeling when going back and forth with this guy. I suppose being on WP and having interaction with people of different backgrounds and belief systems, even in Christianity, will probably lead to at least SOME disagreements, I guess. But how do I want to represent Christ, my Lord and Saviour… my Love and my Redeemer… my Very LIFE… here on the Blog that bears His Name?

We have a Daily Choice. Sometimes, it’s every Moment

I don’t have to “defend myself” or what I Believe anymore than Job did against those, especially not those who are also brothers and sisters in Christ, from the Arrows and Darts that may come my way in response to Posts or Comments that I may do on WP. My mission here is to represent Christ, not myself. For He alone is the “Hope of Glory” in me.

Friday Free for All: “You in Me, I in Them, They in Each Other”

Good morning all and welcome to Friday Free for All, a Weekly Offering of discussion and Feedback on the blog articles, Christianity or the particular section of scripture I offer up for discussion.

“By Life Supplied”

Jesus was praying the REAL “The Lord’s Prayer” and His primary focus was on US as the Body… being One WITH HIM and with each other as He and the Father are One. Let me give you the whole section for more context.

“that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” – John 17:21โ€ญ-โ€ฌ23 KJV

We as the Church, “called out” Believers in Christ as our Life, are a People of a Different Source. That Source is the very Life Supply of Jesus with the Father… In Us and Thru Us… to each other and the World around us who so desperately needs Him and His Life.

Today, let’s meditate on that section of John chapter 17 verses 21-23 as we contemplate the Source, the Supply and the Onenes we have in Jesus Christ our Saviour and our VERY LIFE.

Let’s meet the Lord and Each other over the Word of God in Christ. – Barabbas

Six-Word-Saturday: “There is Sadness in our Home “

“Our pets become our family members

Where once was joy and Life, it has been replaced with temporary sadness in the loss of our sweet girl. She’s been struggling lately, diagnosed with cancer in June and progressing quickly. But yesterday morning she went into a seizure suddenly and then a stroke. Now she has passed and our Hearts are heavy without the sound of her breathing, her snoring, her barking at the faintest sound outside, the slightest change in wind direction or the smallest leaf dropping from the willow just beyond her domain.

Doing what she loved best.

She joins a chorus of Dog Angels who have passed before her. BO… Alex, Jake, and Sonny. Wait for us by the river and streams of gold.

“Balloon fest on a short track.”

I guess you could consider the black rubber tires as tiny balloons. But what I was drawn by initially was the multicolored spectacle of the NASCAR racers as they circle. I thought of the Albuquerque Balloon Festival.

Catching Up before Work

Running Behind this morning.

I got up later than I usually do. I’ve only taken time for the Psalms 96-100, Proverbs 20 and Mark chapters 8 thru 10.

Seems like it’s easy to get distracted with commenting on posts and answering responses. But I’ve had a good morning so far enjoying some good music while I’ve “plugged into” the Source.

Well, I gotta get after it. I’ll check in tomorrow with Thursday Thoughts. Cheers and have a Jesus Day. – Barabbas
