Hat tip to Ben again. Great idea, thx
Jason starts his day like most other ‘ordinary’ people. he’s up by 6am to the mundane and thoroughly boring alarm clock. The coffee is on by 615a. With the paper by his favorite chair, Jason finishes his morning juice waiting for that hot, brown-ish ‘good stuff’ still brewing in his stove top percolator.
By 645a though, before his first ‘Cup of Life’ as he calls it is ready, Jason heads for the shower. The glass door slides shut after he’s disrobed and that’s when everything ‘normal’ ends. As the warm water rains down on his sleepy back and neck, the lights shift from white to yellow, then yellow to a soft navy blue. All other sound is dampened by the special proofing installed in the small space and Jason stands ready to receive…
As he opens his mind to the world around him, first by little singular voices, then by many stronger and more intelligible impulses, he feels them… reaching out for help. Reaching for… “E-Man”. The E is for empathy, of course. 🙂 And he hears them.
Jason starts his day like most other ‘ordinary’ people…

Empathy is so rare these days, it would certainly be seen as a superpower!

would to God more people would develop this ‘superpower’ that already lies in all of us. sadly, you’re right. it’s rare in expression these days.

Chemistry Teacher? lol. nah… i’m that “Jason”. i’m E-Man, the Customer Service Rep helping people, Doctors and their Oncology Patients on a daily for a Healthcare Company. I admit, Empathy isn’t always easy, but when I choose to get myself out of the way and just open up to the needs of others, it gets easier. cheers. -Barabbas
